The House of Representatives Committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has directed the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce the organisation’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeyemi Adeniyi, within 48 hours.
The order was issued during an investigative hearing at the National Assembly in Abuja as lawmakers intensified their probe into the activities of the alleged agency.
The committee is investigating claims that the PFIPC was never legally established but still secured office space at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja and received ₦1.32 billion in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
Representing the IGP, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi told the committee that the police had already filed an eight-count criminal charge against Adeyemi at the Federal High Court, where the matter is currently pending.
He also confirmed that the police received petitions from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, accusing Adeyemi of falsely presenting himself as the Director-General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and the PFIPC.
Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi said Adeyemi’s appearance before lawmakers was necessary because the investigation concerns the credibility of key government institutions and senior public officials.
Police investigators further disclosed that signatures on several documents linked to the alleged agency did not match genuine government signatures, raising suspicions of forgery.
According to the committee, about 29 suspected forged documents have been identified, including alleged approvals from the State House, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Ministry of Finance and other federal agencies.
Lawmakers said their investigation would continue alongside the police prosecution and could result in additional recommendations for further action.
