The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed how the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) switched political allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a public engagement in Abuja, Wike recounted a private conversation with the AMAC Chairman, who initially expressed interest in contesting for a second term under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The AMAC Chairman came to me and said he would run again under the PDP.

“I asked him, ‘Who will sign your INEC form? Who’s the Secretary of your party?’ The man quickly went and joined APC to save his career.” Wike said.

Wike’s remarks appear to further prove the internal crisis within the PDP in the FCT, particularly issues around party leadership and credibility ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The revelation has sparked conversations about the growing influence of the APC in the nation’s capital and the ongoing political realignments within opposition parties.
