The people of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State held a solidarity work today in support of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and to commend the Inspector General of Police for maintaining law and order in the state.
In his address, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, stated that there can be no peace without justice and obedience to the rule of law. “We are in support of governance by law not by impunity. We are in support of the position of the inspector general of police.”
He commended the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for restoring peace in Rivers State while commending the Inspector General of Police for maintaining peace and order.
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule commended the people of Obio/Akpor for their peaceful disposition, saying they believe in the rule of law and the Constitution of Nigeria.
“Nobody is above the law. We stand by democracy, the principle of separation of power. We cannot allow breakdown of law, the governor cannot choose which law to obey and which not to obey.”
The Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Hon. Chidi Amadi, stated that the gathering was an affirmation of trust and unalloyed support to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Barr. George Ariolu, described Nyesom Wike as a man of peace who respects the rule of law, stating that the rule of law is the beauty of democracy.
The Member representing Obio/Akpor constituency II, Hon. Emilia Lucky Amadi, said they were there for a solidarity march in support of Nyesom Wike and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Chief Hon. Bright Amaewhule, the GDI President General, called for the support of all elected officials in Obio/Akpor and declared their total support and commitment to the leadership of Nyesom Wike.
