On Friday, Honorable Solomon Bob, a member of the House of Representatives, called on President Tinubu to end the protection of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and let the law handle the state’s administration and resource management.
9News Nigeria reported that a statement was made public in Abuja, wherein Honorable Bob said that Governor Fubara had disrespected the President.
He said that Fubara had broken many impeachable constitutional clauses, making it unacceptable for him to continue to function in such a criminal manner.
“Governor Fubara has no respect for President Tinubu. I can tell you that. Forget about his public posturing; he only fears him.”
“That’s all. If he could thumb his nose at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Dr. Nyesom Wike, who brought him out of nothing, imagine what he would do to Tinubu.”
“He begged for the December settlement brokered by the President. He benefited more than anyone else from it. In fact, he’s the only beneficiary. But see how he has trashed it.”
“The only term of the agreement he pretended to honor was the reappointment of commissioners who resigned, but he made them effectively redundant to the point where they had to resign again.”
“He finally came out recently to denounce the settlement as unconstitutional.”
Hon. Bob further noted that Governor Fubara’s blatant illegality and assault on the constitution require that he face the repercussions of his conduct.
He asserted that the President would be betraying his oath of office if he were to appear to be endorsing Fubara’s extraordinary acts of lawlessness.”
Bob said,”He (Fubara) is running a government without a budget and spending Rivers people’s money recklessly.”
He said that residents of the state are living on empty pockets because Fubara unlawfully withheld money from local governments. He pleaded for the House of Assembly to remain unhindered in its constitutional duty to take appropriate action against the governor.
He said, “If you do nothing in the face of gross lawlessness and constitutional abuse such as Fubara is displaying in Rivers State, that’s not neutrality; that’s siding with impunity, lawlessness, and tyranny.”
