The Rivers State Governor, Sir Similayi Fubara inaugurated Caretaker Committee Members Yesterday 19th June 2024, to run the affairs of the 23 local government areas of the state as the elected council chairmen’s tenure expired on the 17th of June 2024.
The governor of Rivers State stated it clearly during the tenure expiration of the 23 local government chairmen during a state-wide broadcast, he commended the outgoing council chairmen for their contribution so far in developing their LGA.
Sir Fubara who appointed 23 Caretakers Committee members to take over the affairs of the council awaits when Local Government Elections will commence.
Information reaching our correspondent that the Inspector General of Police orders the men of the Nigerian Police Force to block the entrance of the Council Headquarters and not to give access to anyone, during our investigation it was revealed that some few Council Secretariat were blocked not the 23 local government.
The Newly Appointed Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government, Hon Darlington Orji has drawn the attention of Nigerians and the Federal Government to the unlawful blockade of Council Headquarters in Isiokpo.
Darlington Orji said he was denied access to the council headquarters by men of the Nigerian Police Force As an order from the Nigeria Inspector General of Police, this blockade is unlawful because other LGA New Caretaker Committee members have gained access why stopping Ikwerre LGA CTC members from accessing it’s Council Secretariat.
We are calling on Mr President, the Governor of our dear state to look into this unlawful blockade of our council headquarters “he added”
