Rivers Police Officers Arrested For Kidnapping Man, Stealing $3000 From His Wallet

Some Police officers operating in Rivers State have been arrested and detained by the State Police Command.

Their arrest was a sequel to an earlier alarm raised on Friday by an online user on X (formerly known as Twitter) with the handle @harrisonbbi18 when he posted saying:

“Police officers attached to Rivers State Police Command left Port Harcourt to Aba, Abia State, arrested a man, took him to Rivers State, Bayelsa State, and entered Ughelli, Delta State. After paying 3,000 USD, they moved him back to Port Harcourt and dumped him.”

The Public Relations Officers of Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, on Saturday, confirmed their arrest in Port Harcourt.

In her response to the inquiry, Iringe-Koko said an investigation has been opened into the allegation and the findings would be made public.

“The police personnel have been identified and arrested while the investigation is in progress. The outcome will be made public as soon as it is concluded.”

Iringe-Koko, however, did not reveal the number of police officers involved in the act.
