The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike said the River State government did not received any Palliatives from the Federal government as being circulated.
The governor said this during an interview with AIT, while speaking on the fallouts and other issues relating to the EndSARS protests on monday.
He said that the only assistance the Rivers state government ever received was that from well meaningful Nigerians and other donors and not from the Federal government as being circulated.
“What we received was from meaningful individuals who out of sympathy donated food items to be shared to Nigerians and river state government got their share”.
“The River state government was sincere in the distribution process because we shared the palliatives going from one Local government to another and without sparing anyone, bearing it in mind that everybody was a victim of the COVID-19 predicament either directly or indirectly, he added”.
Wike insisted the EndSARS protests and every other reaction(s) that accompanied it is to tell the government to wake up to her responsibility.
“The EndSARS protest has ignited the so long buried anger in Nigerians and the reactions simply explain the need for the government to wakeup to her responsibilities.
“We have been sincere and open to our people and I urged other governors to emulate the practice, he submitted”.
