Excellency, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, forwarded to the State Assembly a supplementary budget of N220bn
In a letter sent to the lawmakers and read at plenary by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, the governor is seeking the fund to execute the Port Harcourt Ring Road Project.
Already the House of Assembly has given the first reading to the supplementary appropriation bill
Leader of the house, Edison Ehie Edison, in his contribution, had argued that the supplementary budget was necessary because the 2023 appropriation law did not capture the fund for the ring road project
Leader Edison Ehie said the amount appropriated by the 2023 budget was inadequate to fund the ring road project hence the need for the supplementary budget adding that the project which he describes as well intended would fast-track development in the state
The addition of the N220bn supplementary budget to the existing budget would bring the entire 2023 appropriation law to N744bn
The house has adjourned sitting to
Monday 3rd July.
