Our correspodent reports that such default by builders are on increase at rural communities where regulatory agencies fail to visit to caution offenders.

In Imo state, Government has warned against construction close to HIGH TENSION through OCDA and charged the agancy under Engr Chukwu Francis to SEAL ONGOING BUILDING SITES and business agencies found under high tension across the state.

On Wednesday the Imo State Government through its Development Control Agency being Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) sealed off an ongoing two storey Building being constructed very close to high tension wires along Royce road Owerri the State Capital.

Leading the Operational Team of the Agency to enforce the sealing off action during the routine Activity, the Special Adviser to the Governor and General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Engr Francis Chukwu expressed worry over the hazardous nature of the building construction Activity, saying that such makes the site workers vulnerable to possible fatalities arising from electrocution.

He maintained that the State Government led by His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma remains very sensitive to the safety of the Citizens of the State hence the commitment to avert any danger that can pose threats to lives and properties of Imoltes in all situations.

The OCDA Helmsman used the opportunity to enjoin developers to always be conscious of hazards that pose dangers to lives during Building construction activities, noting that they should always take proactive measures while going about their Building construction Activities in order to forestall incidents that will lead to loss of lives.

The former Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring Okigwe Zone Engr. This move has to be sustained mostly at the rural communities where houses and businesses are established along high tension wires and electric poles without recourse to its hazards.

We are calling on OCDA to extend their Services across the communities and prosecute offenders.
