President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met behind closed doors with the President of the Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki.
The visit of the Senate President, the third within one week, might not be unconnected with the rejection by the senate of the executive’s 29.9 billion dollars foreign loan .
On Nov.4, the Senate President met with President Buhari after joining him to perform the Jumat prayers at the State House Mosque.
Saraki, who briefly spoke with State House correspondents after the meeting, pleaded with Nigerians not to politicise the rejection of the loan by the Senate.
He also met with Buhari on Wednesday.
President Buhari wrote to the National Assembly seeking its approval for an external borrowing of 29.9 billion dollars to ensure the prompt implementation of projects in 2016 and 2017 fiscal years.
According to him, the projects cut across agriculture, health, education, and water supply.
The senate, however, turned down the external borrowing request due to what they called “lack of documents supporting the request as referenced in the letter”.
