
Prince Alwaleed bin Kalid bin Takal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, widely known as “Sleeping Prince”, has passed away after spending two decades in coma.
He was 36, the Prince fell into coma in 2005 following a tragic car accident while studying at the military college in London. The incident resulted in a traumatic brain surgery that left him on life support at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.
Despite doctors advice over the years to withdraw life support, his father, Prince Khaled bin Takal Al Saud, refused to give up hope.
“If God had wanted him to die in the accident, he would have been in his grave now”, he once said, holding firmly to his faith and hope for a miracle.

In 2019 reports of slight movements such as raising a finger or or moving his head, made headlines and sparked global interest in his condition.
His story resonated widely, earning him the affectionate title of “Sleeping Prince”.
In April 2025, on his 36th birthday, prayers and tributes poured in from across the world.
However, despite the public’s enduring support, Prince Alwaleed remained in a non-responsive state.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the long vigil came to end as the royal family confirmed his passing.
His death marks the conclusion of a poignant chapter that has symbolized unwavering parental devotion, spiritual faith, and the enduring human connection to hope.
