Official Press Release from INEC

It was a sudden announcement few hours to the elections but the rescheduling of Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections by the electoral Umpire INEC can be used to resolve lingering challenges bedevilling the Commission.

There are petitions, court summons, complains and BVAS machines malfunction to be corrected and put to shape by INEC.

The extension may give room for more preparations but the judiciary shouldn’t have reschedule few hours to the election. That’s the error as cried out by the Electorates.

The permission granted by the appeal court to inspect the results and reset the BVAS machines is in the right direction but the one week may not be enough.

INEC may have been stressed up to come up with such rescheduling of dates but on the benefit of doubt, the shift to one week may not be enough. Let the Commission employ more hands to do more work to sustain the promise made to NIGERIAN electorates.

However INEC will in this one week be expected to resolve alot of anomalies including granting the prayers of the oppositions.

Since the change has come, it is Expected of INEC to utilize the postponement to get it right while expecting the judiciary to give Judgement accordingly for the interest of the people of Nigeria.
