Senate declares Edo State Governor Okpebholo’s seat vacant

The Senate today declares the seat of Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State vacant, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a bye-election to fill the vacancy.

The seat of Okpebholo, who represented Edo Central Senatorial District, became vacant following his election and inauguration as the Governor of Edo State last month.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the declarations after a valedictory session for Okpebholo organized by the Senate.
