U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed blistering attacks on Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
President Trump connected her to a widespread fraud scandal linked to some Somali‑run businesses in Minnesota and sharply criticizing her political role.
In Davos, Switzerland, Trump called Somali‑linked fraud in Minnesota “incredible” and took aim at Omar’s background and political performance, saying:
“She’s now worth $30 million. She comes from a country that’s not a country.
“She’s telling us how to run America. Not going to get away with it much longer, let me tell you.” Trump said.
The president’s comments follows allegations that hundreds of millions of dollars were lost through questionable daycare and welfare fraud schemes involving some Somali‑linked organizations in Minnesota.
The Minnesota fraud cases first gained national attention after viral videos and reporting alleged that federal funds meant for community meals, childcare and pandemic relief were improperly diverted by operators with ties to Somali‑American communities.
Rep. Omar, who was born in Somalia and later became a U.S. citizen, has been a frequent target of Trump’s social media posts and public remarks, including demands by the president earlier this month that she be jailed or deported.
