A wedding scheduled for today Saturday March 5, 2025, in Anguldi, Zawan, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State was unexpectedly called off on Friday April 4, 2025 after the bride-to-be withdrew from the ceremony.
According to sources, the couple had been in relationship for three years.
However, the bride allegedly call off the wedding due to groom’s membership with Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
The news came as a shock to both families and guests, including groomsmen and bridesmaids who were already already lodged in a hotel across Jos.
Meanwhile, other invitees were left at the church, anticipating the bride’s arrival. Tension began to rise when the bride declined to spend the night at the pastorium, a customary practice in COCIN on the eve of weddings.
Sources close to the families claim that the bride insisted she would not spend the night at the pastorium, sparking concerns among church leaders and family members.

Matter escalated when the bride went missing from her expected location and later informed those involved that she would no longer go ahead with the wedding.
Her stated reason for the sudden decision was that she no longer wished to marry a member of COCIN church, despite having dated for three years and undergoing the required pre-marital counseling sessions mandated by the church.
The groom identified as Yakubu Azi Abok, is said to be based outside Jos and had only returned to finalize wedding arrangements.
Family members, friends, and guests who gathered for the occasion were left shocked and disappointed by the bride’s unexpected withdrawal.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the bride for further comment have been unsuccessful.
The church is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
