The Executive Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti have decried different forms of crime, such as gun running, prostitution, narcotics trade and heavy use of substances operational in Lokpanta Abia state Nigeria.

Otti opened up while speaking with Newsmen at a media parley at Government House Umuahia.

The Governor says security intelligence showed that the ransoms paid for kidnaped victims were always dropped off around the Umuchieze Cattle Market in lokpanta of Umunneochi Local Government Area.

Mr Otti stated that the help of security intelligence through electronic equipments installed in different parts of Abia State has helped to discover these crimes and personels were mobilized to trap the criminals at intervals.

He added that investigations were ongoing to ascertain the people involved in the crime, while stating that this informed the decision of the state government to change the cattle market into a general market.

“Inline with the government directives, the market would no longer be exclusively for selling cattle, but it would operate as a general market where other items would be sold.

He hinted that his administration had taken a step forward to fence the market abd issued sound directive to a non- residential daily market, which would open from 6pm through 6am.

Meanwhile, the governor expressed the resolve of the state government to rid Abia of all forms of crime because “no government succeeds in the face of insecurity”

My government would neither condone nor get involved in supporting insecurity in any form or manner, Otti maintained.

Supprisingly, Governor Otti frowned at the bedevilling challenges the crime zone has caused to Abia state. He stated that in few weeks ago before the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria, the state has found that a lot of the ransom that was paid for kidnapping ended up somewhere around Umunneochi/Okigwe Axis.

“We recoverd uncountable Skeletons of people who had been killed and left to decompose still around that axis, Otti said.

My government have decided to dominate the place and what we saw was shocking. In less than 48hrs, we recoverd over 80 dead bodies around the cattle market and we recoverd 20 Headless bodies which included adults, women and children. Shocking indeed, Otti lamented.
