Tension has reportedly gripped parts of Imo State following the arrest of a husband and wife who are allegedly being investigated over the suspected murder of a commercial bus driver.
According to information gathered by 9NEWS NIGERIA, the incident reportedly began after the couple allegedly hired the driver and his bus on charter from Enugu State to Ideato in Imo State.
Sources familiar with the development alleged that after arriving in Imo State, the suspects lured the driver into an apartment, where he was allegedly attacked and killed.
The suspects were also accused of allegedly taking possession of the victim’s bus after the reported incident, raising further suspicions about the motive behind the alleged crime.
The development reportedly triggered an investigation that eventually led to the arrest of the husband and wife, who are now said to be in police custody assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation.
The identity of the deceased driver and the exact location of the apartment where the alleged incident occurred had not been independently confirmed at the time of filing this report.
Authorities are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the driver’s disappearance, his alleged death, the whereabouts of the bus, and the possible motive behind the incident.
