Ado Aleru, a figure long listed among Nigeria’s most wanted terror suspects and controversially turbaned by the Emir of Tsafe in 2022, has resurfaced in Katsina State, this this time at the center of peace negotiations.
Aleru, who was previously featured in a BBC documentary where he admitted to leading deadly attacks but denied involvement in kidnappings, is known for patronizing violence over ransom demands.
In a surprising development, he was present on Saturday at government-led peace dialogue in Katsina, attended by senior military officials and local government authorities.
The move is expected to stir national debate over strategy and implementations of negotiating with known violent-actors.
