The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed the State Ministry of Education to investigate a complaint filed by a parent whose child was expelled for using a poster of one of the candidates in the last election to wrap his books.
The incident reportedly occurred at Odomola Junior Secondary School in the Epe area of the state, when a ten-year-old student was allegedly expelled for wrapping her books with Peter Obi’s poster.
A slip had gone viral on social media showing the sanction by the school’s principal.
Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, the Commissioner for Education, who announced the measure on Wednesday, said the governor had approved the recall of the principal, who would be asked to explain the incident.
“The Lagos State Government, the Ministry of Education, and all its agencies will never instruct any school principal, personnel, or teacher to act in such a manner,” Adefisayo stated.
