The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has reacted to comments by Governor, Nyesom Wike that his administration will begin what he described as “stomach infrastructure” in the state.
Rivers NLC Chairperson, Beatrice Itubor in a statement today, criticized the governor’s comments, accusing him of ridiculing Rivers youths.
She said the governor’s promise of employing 5000 youths in the state, even after applications were submitted is yet to see the light of the day.
Tibor, also alleged that application letters of rivers youths who applied for the state Judiciary jobs were parked in a room and later burnt to ashes.
According to her, the governor is busy building flyovers everywhere while pensioners are dying, noting that the welfare of civil servants should be prioritized.
She called on the governor to show true commitment by employing rivers youths to replace retired civil servants.
She explained that pensioners and civil servants have been neglected by the current administration and that so many of them have lost their lives, due to hardship.
