Yet-to-be-identified hoodlums attacked Imo Commissioner Martin Eke alongside Prince Iheme Pawpaw’s Elder brother and few others who were shoot dead in the guise of sit at home order in Owerri.
The incident threw the state to a cold feet when the information broke out.
It was at a political campaign of one of the most popular candidate for APC Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency, where unknown gunmen trailed some party members and attacked newly sworn in commissioner Martin Eke among others.
Commissioner Martin Eke, Prince Iheme were Killed by the men of the underworld who were enforcing the Sit-At-Order in Imo state Nigeria.
Many people were wounded during the attack which took place at various locations in Imo state on friday, following the sit at home order which was cancelled. The Hoodlums took advantage of it and struck.
At Ubomri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, the gunmen attacked the convey of the All Progressives Congress candidate for Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency, Akarachi Amadi.
Parts of Owerri, Mbaitoli and environs in Imo State was also attacked same friday afternoon, December 9, 2022, by gunmen who were enforcing the five-day sit-at-home order.
Our correspodent reports that gunmen struck at different locations and killed a policeman, Prince Iheme, elder brother to Nollywood actor, Osita Iheme popularly known as Pawpaw.
The gunmen also macheted the state Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Martin Eke.
It was gathered that the gunmen who rode in Trundra operational vehicles, shot sporadically forcing people to scamper for safety.
While businesses abruptly wounded up, the roads were deserted as motorists abandoned their vehicles and ran helter skelter.
At Orji, near Owerri, the state capital, the gunmen wearing black clothes in three vehicles attacked residents and passersby, including policemen.
Our correspodent gathered that the gunmen met policemen at 7up junction at Orji and shot one cop dead.
“They just killed a policemen now. They opened fire on them and were shouting there is sit at home. We have asked you to go home. Stay in doors,” a witness said.
Another eyewitness said, ” I just escaped death by a whiskers now. They stopped before us and and asked us to go home. They didn’t shot at us maybe because I was in the midst of some elderly women.
It was also gathered that the fleeing gunmen also shot repeatedly at Nkwo-Orji market before taking off towards the Okigwe Road.
“Prince Iheme was riding in the same vehicle with the commissioner for solid minerals, Martin Eke. Prince Iheme who is Pawpaw’s elder brother was killed on the spot.
At press time, the law enforcement agents have sworn into action to unravel the killers who used the Sit at home order to perpetuate such a drastic mehem in Imo state Friday.
Commissioner Martin Eke is under serious medical attention in an undisclosed hospital in the state.
