An organisation known as South East Youth Alliance has sent an open letter to the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor thereby requesting for Youth Inclusion in the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Peace and Reconciliation Committee.

Following the alleged exclusion of names in the makeup of the body of this organization, the leader of the group have refuted the saying that the list made public to the members of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Peace and Reconciliation Committee was duly considered and approved.

While briefing the press, SEYA Leader said that here is no special considerations for a Youth leader(s) to represent the Youths in the 42 member committee excluding the Diasporians.

He however wondered what brought about the the poser saying that the list was an OVERSIGHT or DELIBERATE?

In his refutal letter sent across to OHANEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE PEACE AND RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE, SEYA has maintained that the list was authenticated before release.

The original content of his refutal letter reads as thus;

THE EXCLUSION OF REPRESENTATIVE(S) OF THE YOUTHS, AN OVERSIGHT OR DELIBERATE?

I most respectfully wish to communicate to you first, special greetings from over two (2) million South East Youths with commendations from the entire National Executive Members of South East Youths for Equity Alliance on your profound striking force since your emergence as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.

We can recall during your manifesto at Dan Anyiam Stadium, you noted the huge challenges facing Ndigbo in Nigeria while acknowledging the brands of strikers that signed in to contest with you over who will man the affairs of Ndigbo as the President General but urged Ndigbo to give you the opportunity as a top 9 striker, stating you are the best striker anyone can think of, for the job.

You promised to use your reach out, experience, wisdom and diplomatic engagements to score the needed goals.

Your Excellency, I can authoritatively say you are leaving up to the expectations following your moves in a short time, for that reason anyi na asi gi jide nke i ji.

Meanwhile I write to you on behalf of our reputable organisation “South East Youths for Equity Alliance”, following the list made public of the members of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Peace and Reconciliation Committee where there is no consideration for a Youth leader(s) to Represent the Youths in the 42 member committee (with Diaspora inclusive) and that brings the poser; Is it an OVERSIGHT or DELIBERATE?

I can recall that on the 25th day of April 2021, following the communiqué emanating from the meeting of South East Governors’ forum with Ohaneze Ndigbo, Traditional leaders, Religious leaders and Elder Statesmen, your leadership was charged with the responsibility of forming two committees;

a. South East Peace and Reconciliation Committee to engage our people for peace and security of our people and her visitors.

b. Strategy and Welfare Committee to engage and protect our people, especially those who are being unfairly treated.

While I recognize and commend you for the swift response to the mandate given to you to constitute these committees before 10 days given and the crops of notable and respectable Igbo leaders that made the list, I wish to draw your attention to the absence of Youth Rep(s) in the committee. It is pertinent to remind or inform you your Excellency that what these committees tends to achieve as it relates to Peace, Security, Welfare and Strategy hovers about 60% around the Youths.

Neglecting the Youths in these committees, I strongly believe is not healthy for the beautiful intent of these committees.

Having the Presence of few Youth leaders will help to communicate the minds of the Youths as it affects them and also in no little way proffer some of the needed strategic solutions. I am of the opinion that the search for solution must involve the Youths.

Also recall Sir, that Harry Willink’s Committee of 1957 produced the best documents in the Nigeria history following its all encompassing involvement of people of various levels.

I have no doubt that these committees you are setting up will make history like that of Mr Harry Willink if you follow his positive footsteps. On that note, I humbly request you make the list all encompassing by involving and including Youth Rep(s) in the committees.

Finally, in selecting Youth Reps for the committee, I humbly advice you put your head on the ground or call for recommendations from notable Youth organizations such as SEYEA, Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths wing/council or from notable Leaders like Oje Ozi Ndigbo Dr Chekwas Okorie, Chief Ideato C Ideato, Rev Dr Eches Divine Eches and many others to numerous to mention.

The above exposes the inputs of Ohaneze national leadership to set up a good wife spread youth organization like SEYA.
