BY PRINCELY ONYENWE, IMO
The death of the first military governor of Imo state Nigeria, Late Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu is a great loss in NIGERIA.
9News Nigeria reports that his demise has truly created a big vacuum in the administrative circle of NIGERIA.
In his service days as a military administrator in imo state before he was deployed to Lagos state NIGERIA, late Ndubuisi Kanu was dedicated and performed excellently well in various capacities as a leader of repute and honour.
The youth group will ever miss him and this has attracted a great number of tributes as he takes a bow to the great beyond.
The original copy of this tribute from SEYEA reads as thus:
A TRIBUTE TO AN ICON–LATE ADMIRAL NDUBUISI KANU
“HE CAME, HE SAW AND HE CONQUERED”
Former Governor of Imo state and Lagos state (1976 – 1977, 1977 – 1978)
The National Executives and Members of SOUTHEAST YOUTHS for EQUITY ALLIANCE (SEYEA) join all prominent and well-meaning Nigerians to pay the last respect and tribute to a patriot and a progressive nationalist.
It is with rude shock that we received the news of your death on January 13, 2021. It is therefore very difficult finding the right words to pen down this tribute, as we never imagined losing you at this crucial time when your visionary leadership and wise counsel is most needed.
History will not repeat itself but the souvenirs of a hero are indelible.
As we mark the day of tribute of a bigwig – His Excellency late Admiral Ndubusi Kalu, to commemorate a feather in one’s cap.
On this special day of tribute, the South East Youth Equity Alliance (SEYEA) led by Comr. Ekeh Ifeanyi Chimezie the National President, wish to be given the audience to walk down memory lane in order to recount the antecedence of a legend.
His Excellency late Admiral Ndubusi Kalu was a high rank naval military officer who left no stone untouched in his quest to curtail the exploitation of naval officers and maintain the territorial integrity of his State.
Can a will be changed after death? No. In the same vein, the good legacy led by H.E late Admiral Ndubusi Kalu remains indelible.
His call to serve the nation as Admiral and executive Military Governor of Lagos State was borne out of selflessness and patriotism, hence no one takes the glory to himself.
The story of this noble man will transcend over thousands of generations to come because he has written his name in gold ink.
A legend who fought with the gallants and sued for peace, thereby distinguished himself among his contemporaries who were Generals, Major Generals, Lieutenants, Colonels, Commandants, and other high ranking military officers at the top-notch.
In addition, as a Pathfinder in the history of the Nigerian Navy, H.E the late Admiral Ndubusi Kalu put an abrupt end to the embargo, shipwreck, smuggling by merchants, oil bunkering, and the presence of warlords who suppressed the civilians and rebelled against the government in the South East.
Narrating his impacts in the Youth Forum, he pledged solidarity to the South East Zone, to champion the interest of South East Youths.
When an academician who possesses hegemony is on the saddle of the naval force, he will make positive impacts.
Hence, SEYEA has described him as a role model who should be emulated by some naval officers, military dictators and desperadoes of our contemporary society, who are not civilized nor guided by the ethics and ideology of a democratic regime. But rather dictate the tune, and coerce the civilians to play their macabre dance.
Therefore, South East Youths For Equity Alliance (SEYEA) hereby commiserate with the family of H.E late Admiral Ndubusi Kalu, as they join well-meaning Nigerians:
The President of the Armed Forces Ruling Council- President Muhammadu Buhari, present and past Governors of Lagos State, Imo State and Abia State, distinguished Senators and Legislators, the Navy, Air Force, Army Officers and friends & well-wishers to mark this epoch-making event in commemoration of the frontline deceased admiral.
As notable Igbo leaders, Sons and Daughters converge today to pay their last respect to this great man, we the South East Youths remember and mourn him as our dear father, our patriarch, our forerunner, a great Igbo son. We remember ADMIRAL NDUBUISI KANU for the peace and unity that he preached and lived for.
At the same time, We mourn a leader of note, an elder statesman in every sense of it.
We bid him farewell while sending our condolences to the government of Imo State, Abia State, Lagos State, the entire Igboland and the federal government of Nigeria at large.
Finally, We are also in our nature, use this medium to further preach equity, fairness, peace and harmony amongst the ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.
In the light of the development of our dear country and individual regions, we call on both the governments of Imo, Abia, and the Lagos States to immortalize ADMIRAL NDUBUISI KANU, while charging all aggrieved groups to embrace peace and stop all forms of violence and destruction of lives and properties.
Adieu great Nigerian!
Adieu great Igbo son!!
Adieu accomplished military officer & administrator!!!
ADIEU REAR ADMIRAL NDUBUISI KANU.
Rest in peace H.E late Admiral Ndubusi Kalu, for you came, you saw and you conquered.
Signed,
Surv. Ezaka Shedrack U.
