The Southern Governor’s Forum seems resolute in their stands to produce the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The resolution was underscored in Enugu today after it was so decided first in Asaba Delta State in July.
The Southern Governor’s Forum which cut accros all political parties in Southern Nigeria has so far held three meetings in Asaba, Lagos and Enugu since it was initiated.
The Forum is a synergy of opposition parties and the ruling All Progressive Congress APC Governors in Southern Nigeria coming together to wrestle power from the sit-tight Northern Nigeria who doesn’t want the Presidency of the country to leave its region.
Beside other resolutions reached in Enugu today, the Southern Governors also restated their commitment to pursue Fiscal Federalism by working with the National Assembly members to ensure its inclusion in the Constitution through the ongoing constitutional amendment process.
In the same vein the Forum unanimously endorsed the recent Federal High Court judgment that empowers States to collect VAT.
Finally, the Governors renewed their earlier decision for the next President of the country to come from the South for fairness, equity and justice.
Today meeting was hosted by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
