South South Community, Abuja hosts Parliamentarians and government appointees

The South-South Community in Abuja came together to organize a grand reception, a first-of-its-kind event, aimed at honoring Senators, House of Representatives Members, Ministers, Service Chiefs, and other government appointees from the South-South region.

The event, held at the prestigious Armed Forces Officers Mess and Suite in Asokoro, Abuja, was a remarkable evening of celebration and camaraderie.

The evening commenced with an inspiring and heartfelt opening address by Amb Dickson Omoregie, the President of the South-South Community. Amb Omoregie’s words resonated with a sense of unity, pride, and shared purpose among the attendees. He began his speech by welcoming the distinguished guests and expressing his gratitude for their presence at this momentous occasion.

Amb Dickson Omoregie, in his eloquent opening remarks, highlighted the significance of the event. He emphasized that this grand reception was a unique opportunity to bring together leaders and stakeholders from the South-South region, who have been working tirelessly to advance the interests of their constituents and the nation at large.

Amb Omoregie spoke passionately about the importance of fostering unity among South-South leaders and government appointees. He recognized their collective responsibility to represent the interests and aspirations of the region’s people, as well as to contribute to the development and progress of Nigeria as a whole.

Furthermore, Amb Omoregie’s opening remarks underscored the need for continuous dialogue and collaboration among South-South leaders to tackle issues such as infrastructure development, security, and economic growth in the region. He called for a renewed commitment to work together for the betterment of their communities and Nigeria as a whole.

Amb Dickson Omoregie’s opening remarks set the tone for the evening, creating an atmosphere of unity, purpose, and celebration.

Most parliamentarians who, out of their tight schedule could not be present physically were represented.

Prof Osunbor in a key note address eloquently hit the nail on the head when he reeled out the evolution of South South, History, Agitations, Rights of Ethnic Minorities, Resource control, Off-Shore/On-Shore dichotomy bill, 13% Derivation, NDDC, & Prospects of a United South-South Region. His amazing paper delivery enthused every one in attendance, hence a resounding applause.

The event was attended by the eminent personalities such as Sir Mike Okiro Rtrd as Chief host, Hon.Sir & Lady Tunde Akogun, Rt.Hon.Peter Akpatason, Mr.Samuel Ogbemudia Jnr, Hon.Imaseun Efosa, and many other prominent sons and daughters of the region.

At the event, members of the National Assembly were presented with certificates, to mark official welcome to the Federal Capital Territory.

In conveying their thoughts, speakers after speakers , emphasized on harmonious and cohesive engagements among those in authority, in order to foster the needed growth and development in areas where negligence took precedence over the years.

The event was a resounding success, with attendees leaving with a renewed sense of camaraderie and determination to advance the South-South region and the nation at large.
