South South Community in FCT Celebrates Second Anniversary in Grand Style, Promises More Unity Ahead

The South South Community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, gathered in grand style at the BOT’s residence on Saturday to celebrate its successful uninterrupted second-year anniversary.

The day was graced by eminent sons and daughters of the region. The President, Amb. Dickson Omoregie. Omoregie, delighted in his remarks, extended his warmest congratulations to all who attended. He praised the association’s growth, unity, and shared achievements, expressing immense pride in their progress.

President Omoregie emphasized the dedication, enthusiasm, and support that have been the cornerstones of their success. He called on members to reflect on past accomplishments with pride and look towards the future with optimism and determination, aiming to build a vibrant and inclusive community.

During the event, Mr. Peter Akawu, the SSA Admin to the President, expressed gratitude to the Grand Patron Sir EK Clark, Amb. Igali, and the BOT chairman Sir Mike Okiro for their contributions to the forum’s two-year success. He urged members to provide their input to help the forum reach even greater heights.

Chairman, Board of Trustees, Sir Mike Okiro, IGP Rtd, the chief host, expressed heartfelt gratitude for members’ contributions, commitment, and passion. While taking attendees down the memory lane, he highlighted their devotion and patriotism, reaffirming his commitment to hosting the third-year anniversary at his residence. He also recalled about Melford Okilo’s commitment to South South affairs, underscoring the South South community’s importance to him.

The day was marked by splendor, with David Aiguobagbon composing and rendering a rendition in an Edo style. The MC, Henry Olali was on hand to entertain members with jokes, adding to the celebration’s joyous atmosphere.

The highlight of the event was the enrollment of Captain Samuel Okiro, son of the BOT chairman, into the South South community. Captain Okiro, who recently returned to the country, joined the fold amidst the celebrations.

Chief Osazuwa Imaseun, the deputy chairman, Board of Trustee, thanked all attendees, noting the association’s journey from a point of silence to its current thriving state under the present administration. He expressed confidence in the leadership’s ability to move the association forward, affirming that the South South FCT community is here to stay.

President Amb. Dickson, in his appreciation, stated the importance of a South South Community anthem at this point in time. He promised to reward the best composer. He conveyed appreciation from the BOT and pledged to co-host the next year’s anniversary, highlighting the BOT chairman’s accomplishments and happiness with his family. He prayed for increased unity, believing that the next year would be even better.
