Speaker Aspirant, Princess Onuoha Insists The Task Ahead Of “us” Is Nation Building

As campaign for the speaker position of the 10th national assembly goes tough, Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha is one among the best contestants to cliche the position.

Her contest is a representation of the female gender to attract the women affirmative quota in governance and police making.

9News Nigeria gathered that Princess Onuoha is a lone voice in the speaker contest and seriously gathering momentum to scale through.

However, Onuoha is currently serving as the Federal Representative representing Okigwe North/ Onuimo/Isiala Mbano Federal constituency of Imo State.

She is the only returning female lawmaker from the South East geopolitical zone by her dint efforts and goodwill coupled with her quality representation in the 9th assembly, 9News Nigeria reports.

She is the chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Disabilities and Special Needs.

To represent the zone and mostly the womenfolk, Onuoha joined the speakership race in the incoming 10th national assembly while soliciting maximum support by her Honourable colleagues and Nigerians at large.

Recall that she was first elected into the House on February 25, 2020 on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) and since then has remained loyal to the APC government.

Upon her inauguration, she was made the chairman of the committee on Disabilities and Special Needs. Since then, she has sponsored many impactful motions and bills, one of which was the establishment of Federal College of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Sciences, Isiala Mbano LGA, Federal College of Horticulture, Okigwe, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Okigwe.

The bills are currently at the Senate for concurrence and subsequently, presidential assent.

Legislative Damsel representing

For clarification, the pretty damsel is a graduate of Estate Management from the University of Lagos. Onuoha also has in her kitty a Master’s Degree in Environmental Planning and Protection (MEPP) from the University of Abuja.

Before her election into the Federal Parliament, she had served as a Senior Special Assistant to a former Governor of Bayelsa State on International Development Cooperation amongst other previous political engagements.

She was also a board member of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).

The lawmaker was a member of State Implementation Committee ( SURE- P) Community Services, Women and Youth Employment Scheme: a task which earned her the name – MAMA SURE P.

While lobbying her national assembly colleagues to grant her this ample opportunity to Serve her country, Princess Miriam for speaker position 10th National Assembly is a quality representation for the inclusivity of the women parliamentarians in governance.

In her recent trending video clip on speaker contest, she said, “I am in the race for the Speakership position because i understand the diversity, the need for inclusivity and the Unity of the Nation across gender, across religion, We have gone beyond religious of tribal sentiments, the task ahead of us now is that of Nation building”

But our source revealed that Princess Onuoha grabbing the national speaker position will definitely affect that of the Senate President which is equally zoned to the south East because a likely candidate will emerge from Imo state.
