BY PRINCELY ONYENWE,IMO –

There was controversy over a false report by a particular radio station (name witheld) in Imo state on the present state of Fedponek/ Nekede/ FUTO/ Ihiagwa/ Obinze road.

The story reported that the above road was completed and commissioned by Mr President.

The story has continued to trend in the public domain to discredit the good plans of Imo state government to complete this particular busy road.

On Monday september 20-09-202, an FM radio station in Owerri allegedly reported falsely the actual position of the road already mentioned above.

Our correspodent in Owerri who rushed to the scene on a tip off reports that the tracked story from a radio station was falsely interpreted.

The radio reported that the Nekede/ Ihiagwa/ Obinze road was wholly COMMISSIONED by PRESIDENT BUHARI who visited Imo state on a 1-day working visit on thursday 9-09-2021.

It could be recalled that on Thursday 9-09-2021, president Buhari was in Imo state to commission some projects including the first phase (PHASE-1) of Naze/ Nekede/Ihiagwa road which terminated within Fedponek area.

However the governor of Imo state Nigeria in his address maintained that the PHASE-2 stage of the Projects will continue in earnest.

From our previous reports, we have condemed the bad condition of the road and applauded the Imo state government on the continued construction.

We have also urged the governor to keep to his promises to complete the 45 killometer road with solar street lights to make the people love him. And by so doing, this will surpass the work of his predecessors.

I can authoritatively report that the drainage system and the solar street lights on the road are second to none.

Moreso, at the completion of the Nekede/ Ihiagwa/ Obinze road which runs through the Ihiagwa bridge down to FUTO gate and in extension to Owerri Portharcourt road, it is the expectations of the people of Owerri West local government area, residents and users of this road to witness a new beginning to douse the tension this particular road has caused them.

9News Nigeria can affirm that it is no longer a hearsay that Imo state government under GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma has installed SOLAR PANEL electricity along this road and hopefully the STREET LIGHT is expected to run through the Police post area down to Ihiagwa market square to the end point of the contract which terminates at Owerri Portharcourt road.

We therefore call on reporters of events and activities of government in the state to give accurate, investigative and verifiable reportage and not to mislead or misinform the public.

Because the gravity of such false stories on the state of Imo roads may yield to protests by residents to bring down the good policies of the shared prosperity government of his Excellency GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma.

From my experience and research studies, I have found out that for the growth of any government or its agency, it does not do the government any iota of good to be mis- represented before the public range through any individual, officers of government and other means or mediums.

While speaking with the Leo-9 contractor handling the project, residents and road users were assured of a continum while the rain seizes.

The project supervisor has earlier promised to give the people a good work and to complete the 45km project as directed by the state government.

He further stated that the road has continued from Mango bus stop upwards while backward to the dustbin area, asphalting will begin to take place.

In the course of the pressure on this road, our investigative team reveales that some portions of the DRAINAGE are blocked refuse and stagnant water thereby resisting the free flow of flood along the road.

We have also identified some danger points on this road which is caused by poor quality of materials used by the contractors.

A drive from Emmanuel college axis down to the Otamiri bridge within the old Nekede mechanic Village arena towards Naze via Fedponek/ Nekede/ Ihiagwa road, can confirm the condition of bad spots on our roads as authenticated by this report.

The public is therefore called to order to ignore the announcement made over the radio on Monday morning where Nekede Ihiagwa Obinze road was said to be completed and commissioned.

While looking forward to the completion of the road, the people are adviced to hold unto the golden words of governor Uzodinma to complete the 45 killometer road and to give the state a quality governance and better narrative.

The people of these areas mentioned have requested for a refutal by the radio station having refered such news as fake and completely downgrading and mis- informing.

At the time of this report work has continued from Mango bus stop upwards with two ways- drainage system.

” It is a thing of joy that the residents and users of this road did not embark on a reprisal protest against such a misleading information on radio.

The tempo was doused by the swift INTERVENTION of Newsmen in the area which brought about this report for the attention of government.
