Stop insulting Gov. Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom youths warn Omoyele Sowore

The recent comments by the Founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel, may not have by taken politely by youths of the oil rich state.

The latest is that the youths under the aiges of
‘AKWA IBOM CONCERNED YOUTHS’ have warned Omoyele Sowore to desist from insulting Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The youths, in a Press Release obtained by Journalists, frowned at the unfounded allegations labelled against the Governor by Sowore, describing it as “an affront on the collective sensibilities of the entire Akwa Ibom people.”

“OMOYELE SOWORE’S DEFAMATORY REMARKS AGAINST GOVERNOR UDOM; A FRAUDULENT AT CHAMPIONING A NO-COURSE

Few days ago, the social media space was awash with defamatory remarks against Governor Udom Emmanuel by one Omoyele Sowore, a self-styled Activist. Sowore in responding to the case of a certain Iniobong Ekpo who was recently suspended from the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), aside calling Governor Emmanuel other unprintable names, tagged him as “a mini-tyrant and a former bank thief.” The youths of Akwa Ibom State find these unguarded utterances by Sowore as absolutely condemnable, infantile and an affront on the collective sensibilities of the entire Akwa Ibom people.

It is a noble act to stand up for a young man who is seemingly helpless and defenseless, it is also noble to rise to the rescue of a suicidal person, however, such acts of nobility, when channelled through careless utterances of wickedness placed with pretence of human face, can only be likened to fixing a golden ring on the snout of a pig.

For a man who constantly projects himself as a role model to the Nigerian Youth, we are shocked at the level of deprivation and degradation which recently characterizes his words and actions. For avoidance of doubt, it constitutes a National and International disgrace when a man who once sought (and still seeking) to lead this great nation exhibits huge ignorance regarding how a responsible man ought to conduct himself in public. It is safe to say that Omoyele Sowore is IRRESPONSIBLE, this is to his shame. With his recent remark, he has left no one in doubt that hooliganism and the tendency to cause mayhem is like blood that runs in his veins.

Although Akwa Ibom State University is State-owned, a man of Sowore’s age and supposed exposure should have enough sense, if he is not demented, to know that every Institution of higher learning, such as the Akwa Ibom State University, is run by a Governing Council or the Senate and also by rules and regulations as enshrined in the Student’s Handbook, which is usually made available to every student on resumption of studies. Except he is a case of “Iwod Imaha Nwed” (find the meaning yourself), he should have known who and where to channel his grievances to, devoid of childish utterances. The fact that he directly links the Governor to whatever happened in the Instuitution, is a direct testimony to the fact that he is a confirmed case of Schizophrenia. He is NOT to be taken serious by any sane human.

Academic certificates are issued to those who have been found worthy “In CHARACTER and in LEARNING”, little wonder Sowore was twice expelled, because, CHARACTER and LEARNING are two areas he is clearly found wanting. For a man who takes pride in being expelled countless times while in school, we are not surprised that he would proudly resort to defaming the sterling records of a man who had one of the most outstanding careers in the Nigerian Banking industry, a feat Omoyele will never achieve given a thousand chances.
We challenge Sowore to come public with the true facts of how he travelled abroad, through fraud and deceit, for his studies. This same Sowore used propagated lies and deceit, through his blackmailing syndicate called Sahara Reporters, against the person of former President Goodluck Jonathan, this led to the emergence of this abysmal administration of General Muhammadu Buhari, characterized by poverty, pains, unemployment, insecurity and his clearly and steadily leading us to a state Armageddon in our dear country. Sowore is yet to apologise to the Youth of this Nation for misleading them. A man whose character is in doubt has no moral standing to make such statements as credited to him, about the Governor.

May we remind Omoyele that it amounts to blackmail and criminal defamation of character to call a man a thief without proofs. Omoyele should also be reminded that pulling down leaders will NEVER make him a leader himself, his closest call to leadership will be to lead a group of hoodlums and evil minded people like himself. Activism is a noble course, mixing it with hooliganism will only take Nigeria backward, little wonder he was rejected and chased away by responsible #EndSars protesters when he wanted to hijack the protest for his selfish ends and continuous clout chasing. Sowore has no place in the committee of responsible Nigerians and we will continue to remind him this fact.

Governor Udom Emmanuel has devoted decades of celebrated excellent service in the Banking Sector, with not record of a query of complaint of financial misconduct. For a man to rise to the uppermost echelon of his career in one of Nigeria’s biggest banks, it speaks of the quality of character Mr. Udom Emmanuel has. We will not accept any form of blackmail against the sterling career of our Governor.

We, Akwa Ibom youths demand an unreserved public apology from Omoyele Sowore within the 7days from today, else, we will leave no stone unturned to ensuring that Sowore is disposed off as the thrash. We also warn him to desist from insulting Governor Udom Emmanuel, forthwith.

Finally, Omoyele, be reminded that Akwa Ibom no be Lagos!
