Nigeria’s government has issued a serious warning and banned hoteliers from accommodating underaged girls in their hotels across the country.
During the graduation and grant ceremony of participants of the Unlock training program, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Uju Kennedy Ohanenye conveyed the warning on Saturday in Abuja.
Uju warned that there’s nothing that will justify the hotel allowing underaged girls to lodge and also called on parents to monitor their female underaged children’s daily activities.
She said ” I wish to say something to the beneficiaries of today’s event, I hope you saw the video circulating on social media about our girls taken to Ghana, you all will hear and see the action of the federal government soon.
She stated that the. Ban on hotels not lodging underaged girls will commence as of 20th June 2024 and if any of the hotels fail to listen, will face the punishment.
At the event, they were presented with certificates, and N500,000 grants were also given to the participants who won the best business plan.
This fight is not only for the federal government but for all of us, “she added “
