STOP THE POLITICIZATION OF THE NDDC AND FOCUS ON NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT – WIKE

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers state

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called for a halt to the politicisation of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as he says it is time for everyone irrespective of the political divide to work together for the development of the region.

Speaking at the Rivers State Government house while receiving the Interim Administrator/CEO of the NDDC Barr Effiong Akwa, Governor Wike also cautioned against a repeat of people coming from other states to block entrance into NDDC as he warned that the NDDC doesn’t belong to any ethnic group but to all the people of the Niger Delta.

He appreciated the NDDC for presenting refuse disposal trucks to the state as he noted this is the first time the NDDC has to give this type of support since his assumption of office. He further stated that the new NDDC management has started on a good note as he urged the Interim Manager to ensure he visits all other Governors of NDDC states.

In his remarks, Barr Effiong Akwa said since his assumption of office on the 10th of December he has been reaching out to credible stakeholders in the region because he believes the NDDC can achieve more through partnership.

He commended the Governor for the massive infrastructural development across the state and the dualization of the Eastern Bypass road that leads to the new NDDC office. He said the new NDDC office would be commissioned by the President on the 25th of February 2021.
