This strange occurrence happened in Enugu State of Nigeria.
Courts are conventional channels to recover rents and all forms of debts, but in this case the court defaulted as customary court of Amurri, Enugu State, is reportedly locked up by the landlord over unpaid rent.
According reports, the Customary Court presided by Egbo, Esq., in Amurri close to Agbani town, which houses the Nigerian Law School, Agbani campus, was locked up on September 12 due to inability to renew the rent.
The incident prevented the judges from sitting and forced lawyers to seek answers after unable to have their cases attended to as well.
After some enquiries, lawyers were told that the courtroom’s rent is due but it has not been renewed so the owner locked up pending renewal.
