Dr. Tanko Yusuf has stepped down as the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement after accepting a new appointment as Political Adviser, Northern Nigeria, to Peter Obi.
Tanko announced the change in a statement addressed to Obi, leaders, stakeholders and members of the Obidient Movement at Obidient House, Life Camp, Abuja, saying his new role will focus on political engagement, mobilisation and coordination across Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reflecting on his two years National Coordinator, Tanko said the movement had expanded its organisational structure across the country, including the establishment of regional leadership and coordination structure s across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He also listed digital mobilisation, grassroots coordination, community engagement and an election-results monitoring system linked to the INEC Results Viewing portal among the initiatives developed during his tenure.
He thanked Peter Obi, leaders, coordinators, volunteers and supporters of the movement for their support during his tenure.
With Tanko moving into a new Northern Nigeria assignment, Dr. Moses Paul, popularly known as Dr. Mo, is set to take over as National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement.
The leadership change comes as Peter Obi and his political allies intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
