The Lagos Governorship Election Forecast Favours Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu/ APC

By Prof. Ojo Emmanuel ADEMOLA

The forecast comes with precision using all standardized parameters to arrive at projection figures of 2.0 points basis of inferential plus or minus. Our forecasts for the February 25th presidential election met this global standard, and the rest is history that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election with a margin of 20% above his closest rival in People Democratic Party (PDP). Asiwaju has since been affirmed the president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), awaiting his formal swearing-in on May 29th, 2023.

Following on the same trends, our projections for the Saturday, 18th March Governorship election in Lagos State clearly point to a landslide victory for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (BOS) of the ruling party(APC) with a wide margin of over 30% of the projected total votes by prospective Lagos electorates (see chart/map).

Using the widely acknowledged parametric statistical data to back up the claims, Prof Ojo Emmanuel Ademola, the Team Lead of the Global Data Base predicts a superlative landslide victory in favour of the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat ticket of APC with at least outright wins in 13 Local Government Areas (LGA) of the State, indicating at least 15-20% winning margin over a distant second candidate.

In a forecast report released yesterday to the media, Prof. Ademola affirmed that the leading APC Governorship candidate, BOS, will score the highest winning votes clearly in Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Epe, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Ikeja, Badagry, Agege, Shomolu, Surulere, Apapa, Mushin and Ifako Ijaye LGAs while closely achieving just a 2.0-point basis of minus in the other seven (7) LGAs of Eti Osa, Ibeju Lekki, Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Oshodi Isolo, Alimosho and Ojo respectively.

The Statistical data which highlights incremental (plus) voters turnout in the State over the February 25th, 2023 presidential election, projected that APC and its candidate will poll higher cumulative total votes far above its closest rival in Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively.

From the Data, there will be a clear winning difference of about 500,000 votes between the two highly rated candidates of APC and LP, tilting the figures in favour of Governor Sanwo-Olu of APC.

The reliable Statistical Data indicated that LP and its candidate will win outrightly in Ibeju Lekki, Oshodi Isolo, Alimosho and Ojo LGAs along with the fringe Councils, achieving barely the statutory 25 per cent votes in 13 others.

Through the use of Statistical Data, Prof Ademola said: “I project a race too close to call, or battlegrounds in Eti Osa, Amuwo Odofin and Ajeromi Ifelodun, explaining that the statistics could swing in favour of the two (2) leading candidates of APC and LP on or before the election on Saturday.

In all, the statistics support the sentiments of re-election for the current Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
