The ceremonial event took place during a courtesy visit of the Amalgamated APC support groups on Friday. The DG, Dr. ASABE VILITA BASHIR at this event thanked members of the group for the visit and specially for the honour given her as the National Director of Women Affairs for the groups. She acknowledged with profound appreciation the fact that the group has recognized her in that capacity. She said even though the offer will be a tedious task, that members should be assured of her unflinching discharge of duty and support within her purview. To whom much is given much is expected, she added
As a leader of women in other groups, Dr Asabe believes her wealth of experience here, will strongly play out. Again with the help and support of all and sundry, she hopes service delivery is possible.
Consequent upon the leadership of the incoming administration of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola TINUBU and the vice Shetima, she is optimistic that Nigeria will be transformed for the betterment of all. She alluded to the fact that, since inception of democracy, this is the first time we have the largest number of support groups. She emphasized that it’s going to be a great task and that all hands must be on deck, stressing that it’s not about individual gains this time around but the service that will touch lives.
However, Dr Asabe made it known that the primary function of her center even though not big is to bring succour to women folds by protecting them in all areas of needs, research on areas that borders them and make available all social needs that pertains to them. She prays that with the help of Almighty God and the incoming principal combined with wisdom, that success is certain.
In the end she promised to through her weight by giving the necessary support towards the activities of the Amalgamated APC Support Groups.
Earlier, Hon Haruna Alfa, the Administrative Secretary of the Amalgamated APC Support Groups who represented the Director General of the group, Dr. Nasir Ladan, thanked the DG for accepting to host his team despite the short notice. He stated that the visit is a historic one, noting that the reason for their visit was primarily to deliver to her (DG, National Women Development Center) a letter of appointment as the National Director, Women Affairs of their organization. He added that the decision was taken by the National Working Committee of their organization and she was carefully selected based on her track records overtime. The organization has seen her as a progressive leader, and a strong humanitarian service provider.
Hon Alfa also said, the unanimous decision of the committee saw her as the only capacity woman that the cap fits to champion the affairs of women of all the Support Groups. Secondly, the visit will also serve as an opportunity to know what the center is doing to foster unity among women, the development for the teaming women, what the center did during the elections and the plans going forward.
The support groups Alfa clarified is an umbrella body of other support groups of APC, adopted by the National Working Committee of APC on the October 16, 2022. Haruna made it known that the adoption came after a background check was duly carried out. This elicited the approval which gave the group the powers to supervise, coordinate and synergize all the support groups registered with the party. It was based on this mandate given to them by NWC that members worked vigorously together with other support groups to achieve the success of the just concluded polls. This he acknowledged was the first hurdle, the second hurdle he added was the sustenance of the victory. Now everybody is anxiously waiting to witness the swearing in of the president elect on May 29, which shall come to pass by the grace of God. The administration he believes will consolidate on the gains of the current administration of president Mohammed Buhari, a government that will be prosperous for all.
Hon Haruna also used the opportunity to notify the NWDC Boss and everyone in attendance of the upcoming event, the Official Unveiling of the Organization’s first ever Magazine slated for 24th of May.
Lastly, Hon Alfa stated that the maiden edition of the magazine as it where will capture all the activities of the organization before, during and after elections. He also promised that all activities of the Center will be duly captured in the magazine, making it all encompassing, again that the event is billed to take place here at the Women Development Center.
