The Politics Of Corps Members’ State Allawee In Sokoto(Must Read)

By Paschal Maduemesi

On the 12th of June 2017,barely two years after the increment of state all-steel from #4000 to #5000.the executive governor of this state, His Excellency, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal,in his speech at the closing ceremony of 2017 batch A stream 1 orientation course reinstated his commitment in ensuring that the welfare of every corps members serving in the state is taken with utmost prioty even state allawee
Six months later, after our dearly beloved Batch B stream 2 corps members were settled, hope were alive for us dat it was our turn to taste state allawee as some of us refused to travel for XMAS and new year only to be disappointed at the end of January wen there was no call to assemble at koko Road or Five star,Though disappointed were still hopeful that it will definitely surface.
The game for the state allawee bizarre started among principalities and powers of the governmental elites and probably humility in service princes when excuses for the delay was given to be: change in cabinets, therefore, we were asked to b patient and not protest.they failed to understand that PATIENCE left with JONATHAN.

The NYSC Sokoto, in its quest to render corps members strengthless and incapable to form any form of activism, decided to abolish CLOs and opted for appointments of CDS groups Presidents which is pivotal to corps members solidarity.from January to late March, the popular slogan has always been “they will Pay, but remember it is not a right but a privilege”.

When the pressure surmounted both from the State Coordinator and from the Anxious corps members who were already fed up with the cock and bull story they always tell us- they will pay, according to the NYSC official that came for inspection on Thursday, 29th March, General CLOs of Sokoto North, South and Wamakko LGAs were summoned by the Governor for a meeting which outcome still remains a mystery but camouflaged in another story Titled-THEY WILL PAY BEFORE PASSING OUT.

The Bomb Shell landed like Hiroshima on Saturday, 6th April, when in the JAC lecture held in COE it was announced dat no more state allawee.
I asked myself wat type of barbaric behavior is dis? at least,if an employer wants to lay off his employees,he should pay him the months accrued.
Conclusively,i support the peaceful protest. At least, even if they won’t pay as they said, let’s show that the man has not died in us as described by Wole Soyinka. Enough is enough,These gerons has always thought they can pocket Us (Youths). See u at d state house.
