A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, Dr Joe Abah has said that the recent violence that is engulfing the SouthEast, which involved shooting of police officers, burning of police stations and federal government facilities is a mere attempt to foment anarchy and is not in the interest of the people of South East.
Dr Joe Abah made these statements via his official Twitter account where he tweeted in response to news of the jailbreaks and police headquarter attacks by unknown gunmen in Imo state.
He tweeted: “This attack on a prison and police station by IPOB portends very grave danger for the South East. It is not in the interest of the South East and is an attempt to foment anarchy. I condemn it and call on the authorities to do everything necessary to restore peace and sanity.”
“If following a jailbreak, you announce that nobody should be in prison in Nigeria, you are an anarchist and it is proper to blame the jailbreak on whichever group you lead.”
In another vein another Twitter user responded and tweeted:
“Why is the Police saying it’s “IPOB”? Is IPOB a group or a brand given to activities of a specific ethnicity? I don’t like labels especially where there’s no evidence but likely repercussion!
We blame faceless “bandits” and “terrorists” but never Miyetti despite their claims”
