A Magistrate Court Grade 1 in Jalingo, Taraba State, has sentenced three people to 10 years’ imprisonment each for illegal arms trafficking.
The convicts – Sakina Garba, Ali Gono and Ibrahim Abdulrashid – were arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) between January and February 2026 along the Wukari-Jalingo road. Authorities discovered firearms concealed in two sacks of food items during the arrest.
The court ruled that the prosecution had proven the case beyond doubt, leading to a 10-year jail term for each of the accused.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by security agencies like the DSS to curb arms trafficking and enhance safety in Taraba State.
