Baba Malam Wali Mni has set the tone for his 2027 governorship campaign after emerging as the APC candidate in Yobe State.
In his acceptance speech, Wali thanked party leaders, praised a peaceful primary process, and laid out the priorities that will define his run.
His address focused less on attacking opponents and more on unity, continuity, and teamwork.
These are the three takeaways from his acceptance speech;
1. Continuity is the Campaign Pitch
Wali framed his win as a mandate to continue the “laudable policies, programmes and projects” of the Buni administration. He positioned himself as a product of both the Gaidam and Buni eras, promising to apply those lessons to deliver more service delivery. The message: no reset, just expansion.
2. Unity Over Rivalry
He repeatedly called for a united APC front heading into 2027. Wali thanked former aspirants who stepped down, called them “patriotic statesmen,” and urged all party members to work together for victory at every level. The goal is to avoid post-primary fractures and present a consolidated front against the opposition.
3. Teamwork and Inclusivity as Governing Style
Wali pledged that his government would be a team effort where “everyone on board” contributes to Yobe’s development. He emphasized peace, unity, prosperity, and inclusivity, promising no zone or group would be left behind if elected.
