President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increase and arrears payment for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The move aims to boost morale, improve welfare, and support troops in ongoing security operations.
Tinubu made this announcement during an interfaith breaking of fast with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He assured that the welfare and accomodation challenges of military personnel will be adequately taken care of by his administration.
The salary adjustment is aimed at boosting the morale of troops and recognizing their sacrifices in defending the country against security threats.
Approvals include increased salaries, improved allowances for Brigade Guards, better equipment procurement, and provision of decent accomodation for troops.
The Chief of Defence Staff, said the measures would boost morale and operational efficiency for soldiers deployed against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats.
President Tinubu praised the troops for their courage and sacrifices, acknowledging the challenges they face while serving away from their families. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continuous investment in modern equipment, intelligence capabilities, and operational logistics for the military.
“These laudable approvals will go along way in enhancing our operational efficiency, and I assure you that they are well received by all members of the armed Forces”, the Defence Chief stated.
President Tinubu further expressed condolences to the government and people of Borno State over recent terrorists attack, while commending Nigerians for their patience amid ongoing national reforms.
