President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, saying the victory confirms the confidence the people of the state have in his leadership.
The President ‘s position was disclosed on Sunday in statement issued by Bayo Tinubu, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, through his official X handle.
Tinubu said he had earlier called Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory and wished him success as he prepares to lead the state for another four years.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the onfidence the people of Osun have on him”, the President said.
He urged Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to unite the people of Osun State and mobilize them towards achieving growth, stability and social and economic development irrespective of their political affiliations or choices during the election.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election”, Tinubu said
Tinubu wished Adeleke success in his second term and urged him to unite the people of Osun State, regardless of their political affiliations, while focusing on growth, stability, and economic progress.
The President also commended other contestants for their courage and discipline, saying the election outcome reflected the will of the people and reaffirmed the strength of Nigeria’s democracy.
Tinubu further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting what he described as peaceful and transparent election that producesd a clear winner.
9News Nigeria had earlier reported that INEC declared Adeleke the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Ademola Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenges, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who secured 444,815 votes.
The result gave Adeleke the winning margin of 66, 252 votes over Oyebamiji, triggering heavy celebration among his supporters and residents in different parts of the state.
Adeleke is set to continue as Governor of Osun State for another four-year term, as the President urged him to make unity, stability and socio-economic development priorities of his administration, as Osun awaits a proactive governance.
