President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles following their impressive 2–0 victory over Algeria in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing the performance as inspiring and a source of national pride.
Nigeria sealed the win with two second-half goals, as star striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring before Akor Adams added a second to put the contest beyond reach. The result booked the Super Eagles a place in the semifinals, where they are set to face tournament hosts Morocco in what is expected to be a high-stakes encounter.
Reacting to the victory, President Tinubu took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to applaud the team and rally national support behind them.
“Brilliant performance… inspiring.
Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians,”
the president wrote, tagging the national team and using the hashtag #Naija4TheWin.

The Super Eagles’ disciplined display against Algeria drew widespread praise from football analysts and fans alike, with many highlighting the team’s tactical organisation, attacking efficiency, and resilience under pressure.
Nigeria, a three-time African champion, is chasing another continental title as expectations continue to rise back home. The semifinal clash against Morocco is expected to test the Super Eagles’ title credentials, as both sides remain unbeaten in the tournament.
As the competition intensifies, Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora have continued to rally behind the team, hoping the current campaign will end in continental glory.
