The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has reacted to the interview granted by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to BBC Hausa service on his readiness to collaborate with Peter Obi in the 2027 elections as irrelevant and I consequential.

He said the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not bothered by Atiku/Obi collaboration in 2027, but is presently focused on delivering on the mandate handed over to him by Nigerians, and that Nigerians are already appreciative of the great works going on everywhere to permanently reposition the country to a part of honour and glory.

The Minister said President Tinubu is already the toast of Nigerians. He is a true statesman who is concerned about fulfilling his electoral promises to Nigerians. He noted that Nigerians will continue to support him because of his good works. “Just a few days ago, the Federal Government inaugurated three critical gas infrastructure projects in Imo and Delta States to drive the country’s gas sector. The projects are the ANOH-OB3 CTMS gas pipeline and ANOH gas processing plant in Assa, Ohaji/Egbema in Imo State”.

In the same vein, Bayo Onanuga, a senior presidential aide also said that President Tinubu is too busy to have time for Atiku and his gang’s political maneuvering only one year after they lost elections. This, he said, shows that they are sore losers. “We are not bothered by the games they are playing, because they are only revealing their mindset as mere politicians who only think about the next election. At the moment, President Tinubu is very busy resetting the economy of our great country for the better, laying the foundation that ought to have been laid decades ago”.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and the Presidential candidate of PDP in the 2023 elections had said in the interview with BBC Hausa service that he was ready to back down if his party decides to zone its Presidency to the South East in 2027. He noted that it was the same position he maintained in 2023 election, but the Party left it open for all to contest, which was why he contested.
