The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will remain in power in 2019 as it would emerge victorious at the forthcoming elections.
The first-class traditional ruler therefore urged Nigerians to continue to work towards this success as the ruling party cannot be eased out so soon.
Oba Akiolu further called the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a stubborn man but added that this is for the right reason.
The Nation reports that the monarch hailed Tinubu’s strength and vision and for always standing on the side of the people.
Speaking further at the fund-raising for Oyo state Education Trust Fund (Oyo ETF) in Ibadan, Akiolu further said Tinubu always has his backing on political moves.
According to him, Tinubu remains a visionary leader who stands for what is right and the interest of the people and this was why former President Olusegun Obasanjo described the former Lagos governor as ‘stubborn’.
“Obasanjo always says Tinubu is stubborn. Yes, he is, but that is for the right reasons because he enjoys my support.
“Tinubu stands with the people. And whether anybody likes it or not, he is a force to reckon with in Nigerian politics today,” he said.
“Let me tell you all: no party will wrest power from the APC. I’m not hiding it. God chose Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and he has our support.
“But things must be put right at the Federal level. Let everyone do good and stand for honesty,” he added.
