Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu maintains a cordial relationship with the Catholic Church.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Kalu said President Tinubu has consistently granted requests for meetings from Catholic bishops whenever they seek an audience with him.
According to the senator, the Catholic bishops are known for speaking truth to power, usually conveying messages that politicians may be unwilling to tell the President.
“President Tinubu has a very good relationship with the Catholic Church.
“Anytime they have asked for an audience, he has given it to them because any president dodging Catholic bishops is dodging himself, because what politicians cannot tell the president, the Catholic bishops will say it,” Kalu said.
He noted that the Catholic Church plays a significant role in providing moral guidance and constructive criticism to those in authority.
