President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Adeleke arrived at the Aso Rock Villa at about 5:52pm, shortly after his recent victory in the Osun State governorship election. He was accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The meeting marks the first known encounter between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since the Governor Adeleke secured reelection in last Saturday’s governorship.poll.
The President had earlier congratulated Adeleke by telephone following his electoral victory, describing the outcome as an assurance that democracy would continue to flourish in Nigeria. Tinubu also urged the governor to promote unity among the people of Osun State irrespective of their political affiliations.
Several Osun political figures also arrived at the Presidential Villa during the meeting. They included Senator Lere Oyewumi, Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Sunday Bisi, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Akinleye Kazeem, and Bamidele Salaam, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North/Ede South/ Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency.
The specific agenda of the closed-door discussion was not immediately disclosed as of the time of filing the report.
The meeting comes amid heightened political activities following the commencement of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
