President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered security agencies to launch an immediate and coordinated operation to rescue victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State.
The directive was given to the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies.
Tinubu also condemned the abduction and killing of innocent citizens, describing the attackers as “enemies of peace and humanity.”
He vowed that those responsible for the attack would not go unpunished.
The President expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the incident, while assuring them that the government was committed to rescuing those still in captivity.
“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish,” Tinubu said.
He added that the government would not rest until the abducted victims were safely reunited with their families.
Tinubu also directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation until all the victims are accounted for.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria,” the President declared, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting Nigerians and defending communities across the country.
He assured the people of Niger State that the Federal Government would provide necessary support for security reinforcement, recovery and relief efforts.
The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on August 25, 2026.
