President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be the vice chairman.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was also named vice chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, will serve as Director-General.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed secretary of the campaign council.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.
The council’s advisory body will include former APC chairman Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the southern and northern regions.
They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau in coordinating the two zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was named deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration as deputy director-general.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
The campaign council also unveiled a broad media and strategic communication team led by Information and National Orientation Minister, Mohammed Idris Malagi.
Former presidential spokesman Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu were named among the key officials in the media directorate.
Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, the same position he held during the 2022 campaign.
The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
The President also urged campaign directors to bring on board other party members who were not included in the formal list but could contribute to the campaign.
Tinubu said the administration had fulfilled its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on a path of economic progress.
He urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements while mobilising Nigerians for the 2027 election.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.
He called on the campaign council to defeat opposition forces seeking to “take our country backwards.”
