President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as the first elected and second female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
He described her victory as a landmark achievement for the legal profession and praised it as a triumph of merit, excellence and gender inclusion.
The President urged the new NBA President to reconcile with her opponents, unite the association and address concerns that emerged during the election.
Tinubu said Badejo-Okusanya’s record of integrity, professionalism and commitment to justice earned her the trust of lawyers across the country.
He added that her emergence reflects the growing recognition of women’s contributions to nation-building and expressed confidence that her leadership would strengthen the legal profession, uphold the rule of law and improve access to justice.
The President also called on her to work with key stakeholders to advance judicial reforms, protect the Constitution and reinforce the legal profession’s role in sustaining democracy.
Congratulating her on making history, Tinubu said her achievement shows that Nigerian women can excel in any profession. He wished her a successful tenure and pledged his administration’s continued cooperation with the NBA to promote justice and democratic governance.
