Tottenham Hotspur are close to signing Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.
Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is keen on the 21-year-old Colombia international and is ready to smash their record transfer fee to land the defender.
Sanchez joined Ajax in 2016 for £3.8m, but will cost the Premier League in the excess of £30m they paid Newcastle United for Moussa Sissoko 12 months ago.
He will become Pochettino’s first signing of the summer.
Spurs have not been very active in the transfer market, as they continue to build their new stadium. But Pochettino has continued to insist they would be active before the 31 August transfer deadline.
No announcement is thought to be imminent, but Spurs are hopeful of concluding a deal over this weekend.
